January 2024 KLM acknowledged my flight had been cancelled and their computer made an automatic refund £839 to my bank DEBIT CARD that i had used to pay for the flight online.
THE MONEY NEVER REACHED MY BANK. due to failure of the automated process.
For the last 6 months I have sent 22 emails, made 13 phone calls. At their request I sent them my bank statements to prove the money never reached my account.
They keep repeating i have been paid, my bank confirms i have not been paid.
KLM refuse to escalate it because automatic processes cannot fail. Now, the have closed the case reference and refuse to speak to me.
I am retired, i work as a volunteer for a charity and have only my pension to live on. This is a huge impact to me. I am seriously depressed.

My horror story started 4 days ago when the luggage of my son (traveling under UM KLM as minor 14 yrs old) got lost. As of today, 4 days after loss, KLM can’t even locate the luggage (!) (they told me it could be in any airport of the flight ie GVA/AMS/Bristol).

Follow up on the case is useless and leaves me speechless. KLM whatsapp chat is a recurrent ‘thanks for your patience we are working on your case’.

Failing support and clear answers, I then contacted the CEO of KLM via email and got a reply from Jeremy SIlverstone. That’s where I stand today after 4 days of high stress having to handle that mess and support my son’s first trip abroad alone and without luggage.

In addition I question the KLM UM service which should not have let my son exit the airport without luggage and without contacting the parents. As of today I have no copy of the fully executed UM form.

I set a claim for a full reimbursement of flight ticket, of the UM KLM ‘service’ and for the collateral damage incurred due to time spent/telecommunications to UK/Amsterdam costs.

I have been trying to get a refund since April 2020, took a flight voucher at first after KLM cancelled my flight and have spent hours and hours trying to get a cash refund for that since April 2021 – I can not get hold of anyone at KLM, just bots! So frustrating and beginning to think KLM are purposefully making this as difficult as possible! I have now contacted Aviation Dispute.
